Apakah cinta lebih romantis dari pada kebenaran?
Tanpa kebenaran, cinta adalah penjajahan.
Cinta pun butuh setetes kebenaran.
Proses pencarian akan kebenaran
sudah setua sejarah manusia itu sendiri.
Pertanyaan-pertanyaan para filsuf
awal tentang realitas
menunjukkan adanya usaha u
ntuk memahami dunia di luar diri.
Manusia kagum,
dan bertanya
tentang realitas di hadapannya.
Manusia kagum
akan kerumitan
sekaligus keindahan
tatanan semesta.
Di depan matanya,
alam semesta
menggambarkan keagungan sang Pencipta.
Rasa kagum, heran,
dan hormat
terhadap tatanan semesta
mengental di dalam praktek
ilmu pengetahuan.
Ilmu pengetahuan menjadi
bentuk konkret
dari upaya dasar manusia
menemukan kebenaran.
Disinilah salah satu titik balik
terpenting di dalam sejarah manusia.
Ketika cara berpikir manusia
berubah dari cara berpikir mitologis
menjadi cara berpikir rasional.
Praktek berpikir rasional
tergambarkan di dalam
empat kegiatan dasar sains,
yakni memahami,
menjelaskan,
melakukan prediksi,
dan kontrol atas realitas.
Akan tetapi,
sejarah tidak berjalan
semulus apa yang tertulis di atas kertas.
Cukup lama, peradaban manusia
dikungkung oleh otoritas.
Kebebasan berpikir dan inovasi pun
hanya harapan yang mengambang tanpa realitas.
Pada saat itu, manusia dipenjara
oleh otoritas di luar dirinya.
Politik dan agama
membuat ilmu pengetahuan membisu
tanpa mampu berbicara.
Akibatnya, banyak hal
menjadi tidak terjelaskan
secara masuk akal.
Penyakit dan bencana
dipandang sebagai murka Sang Pencipta
yang tidak rasional.
Dunia menjadi tidak masuk akal.
Manusia mengetahui,
dan dengan pengetahuan itulah
ia menjadi bebas.
Pengetahuan adalah
artifak kehidupan
yang membuat hidup manusia
menjadi lebih berkualitas.
Kualitas kehidupan manusia
ditentukan oleh kemanusiaannya.
Diperlukan paradigma alternatif
yang menjamin kemanusiaan
tetap menjadi yang utama.
Bukan obyek pengetahuan yang penting,
melainkan krisis kemanusiaan
yang perlu diselesaikan.
Krisis kemanusiaan yang juga
merupakan krisis keterlibatan manusia
di dalam perkembangan dunia kehidupan.
Ilmu pengetahuan yang ada sekarang ini
telah membuat manusia
terasing dan membisu.
Alih-alih memupuk kekaguman
dan rasa hormat terhadap realitas,
ilmu pengetahuan malah membuat
manusia terperangkap di dalam
jaring-jaring rasa ragu dan jemu.
Diperlukan paradigma alternatif
di dalam ilmu pengetahuan yang menyadari
dan menghormati kerumitan
realitas dan diri.
Siapa tahu dengan itu,
kebenaran tidak lagi tersembunyi.

qui doivent être résolus.

est une crise de la participation de l'homme
